Challa Tekalu

Challa was born and raised in Ethiopia, located in the Horn of Africa. He speaks three languages: Oromo, Amharic, and English. He holds an associate degree in law and a bachelor’s degree in nursing. Challa made his way to the United States of America in 2010 to fulfill his dream of improving his educational goal and currently serving the Maine society with his registered nurse profession. Ever since he arrived in Maine, he has been working with one of the most vulnerable populations who need his passion for caregiving. His work experience includes but is not limited to teaching, community development worker, Direct Support Professional (DSP), Certified Residential Medication Aide (CRMA), and House Program Coordinator.

Challa joined the Serenity Residential Cares company on February 13/2023, where he serves as a Quality Assurance and Nursing Director. He is a dedicated patient advocate to help them find meaning in life. He calls it a productive day when he assists someone in need and sees a smile on their face. Challa strongly believes in teamwork and perseverance to achieve any dream in life. As part of his hobby, he enjoys cooking and cleaning with his wife and children. He also enjoys spending time with an elderly population, reading, and being around nature.
